Sergio Larrain born in Santiago, Chile, in 1931 and 

passed away yesterday morning at his home in Chile (7/2/12)

When I'm walking down the empty streets
you're always in my mind , always
as a shell of melting secret words
you're always in my mind, always
I can feel your whispering inside of noisy dreams
through the ceiling of a room,
the echo of your voice
as a wave brought by the wind
is calling from the void
Now I recognize the sound where theres no sound at all
When you are sad, tears are not enough
everytime you lose yourself in yearning
When you are sad, days are not enough
time never stops before your eyes
when you are sad, rest is not enough
all your efforts seem to be ignored
When you are sad, beauty is not enough

make believe is all you see around you.

Επειδή με τη δική μου γλώσσα

δεν μπορώ να σ' αγγίξω

μεταγλωττίζω το πάθος μου.

Δεν μπορώ να σε μεταλάβω

και σε μετουσιώνω,

δεν μπορώ να σε ξεντύσω

έτσι σε ντύνω μ' αλλόφωνη φαντασία.

Στα φτερά σου από κάτω

δεν μπορώ να κουρνιάσω

γι' αυτό γύρω σου πετάω

και του λεξικού σου γυρνάω τις σελίδες.

Πώς απογυμνώνεσαι θέλω να μάθω

πώς ξανοίγεσαι

γι' αυτό μες στις γραμμές σου

ψάχνω συνήθειες

τα φρούτα π' αγαπάς

μυρουδιές που προτιμάς

κορίτσια που ξεφυλλίζεις.

Τα σημάδια σου ποτέ μου δεν θα δω γυμνά

εργάζομαι λοιπόν σκληρά πάνω στα επίθετα σου

για να τ' απαγγείλω σ' αλλόθρησκη λαλιά.

Πάλιωσε όμως η δική μου ιστορία

κανένα ράφι δεν στολίζει ο τόμος μου

και τώρα εσένα φαντάζομαι με δέρμα σπάνιο

ολόδετο σε ξένη βιβλιοθήκη.

Επειδή δεν έπρεπε ποτέ

ν' αφεθώ στην ασυδοσία της νοσταλγίας

και να γράψω αυτό το ποίημα

τον γκρίζο ουρανό διαβάζω

σε ηλιόλουστη μετάφραση.

"Μεταφράζοντας σε έρωτα της ζωής το τέλος"
